CHAOS IN THE FDNY

MYFOXNY.COM – A chaotic scene unfolded outside Middle School 72 in Jamaica, Queens, on Wednesday night as several men who wanted to attend a tutorial workshop for the upcoming FDNY entrance exam were turned away. These men said it was because they were white. The Workshop was being hosted by the Vulcan Society, a fraternal organization of black firefighters, which apparently only let in people who got a special e-mail. Fox 5 spoke to a few people who were turned away. They didn’t want to be identified, but they said it appeared that only African-American hopefuls were admitted to the event. LINK

This is the sad state of affairs in today’s fire service. Discrimination and racism are rampant from the highest levels of command as a recent study conducted in Philly points out. Those of us who believe that the best person for the job should be hired and promoted have no one in our corner. The forces of political correctness are running rampant. They believe that a per-determined outcome is more important than a fair process. A fire department that “looks the part” is more important than one that is actually capable of executing it’s primary objective – responding to emergencies. The FDNY is being ripped apart now. Watch the video and see how a uniformed officer tramples the rights of those seeking admission to the training session.

The reason I’m not a Firefighter, is that I’m white. I scored well enough on the test, but was passed over so that more minorities could be accepted.

  2. Al krokenberger says:

Black America ! Give me, give me , give me everything!

  3. Old NFO says:

But…but… it’s ONLY discrimination and racism when whites do it… If the blacks do it, it’s all good… sigh

  4. Mike47 says:

MLK must be turning over in his grave. How can these people not see what they are doing?

  5. Wyatt Earp says:

Don’t think it doesn’t happen here in Philly – with the PFD and the PPD. It does. Every single day. Different rules for different races (and sexes).

  6. Jake says:

I’m actually in the FDNY and it’s a joke what’s going on everywhere. There are a few black firemen who actually believe in what’s happening right now. The other black firemen who believe in the merit system don’t have a voice or a real spokesman for them to be heard.

    Cap:
MORE proof of affirmative action at work….AT IT’S WORST, too.

When will EVERYone wake up that it’s sthe BEST CANDIDATES we want (and NEED) for positions we trust to public safety…got nothing to do with the color of one’s skin…but it HAS everything to do with the ABILITY that person (of whatever race, creed, or ethnicity) is willing to display ON THE JOB, as well as the ethical behavior we all but demand from the same folks…period.

The time for having some people “more” equal than others has to end…now.

I just want the RIGHT person for the right job…with the right skill-sets…asking too much?
    I don’t think so.

    Great post, Cap.
    (and very good comments, people)

    Stay safe out there.
