Sometimes living in a city like Philly can be a test of wills. It’s us against not only corrupt, incompetent and greedy politicians and schizophrenic sports teams, but Mother Nature as well. Philly has been a city of climate extremes long before Al Gore. Always has been. Although we don’t get the disasters like floods, volcanoes or earthquakes that other places do, we get the extreme swings.
Take this winter for example: 40 inches of snow so far. Last night we had an ice storm. The heavy ice brought down these tree limbs, narrowly missing my truck. (As if I don’t have enough to worry about, now it’s ice-covered tree limbs!) In a month or so the spring rains will start. In about four months we will start hitting the summer high temps in the 90’s. After a long, hot, humid summer it will again cool off in late September and we will once again head into fall and another dismal Eagles season.
Like I said: living here is a test of wills.
