Since many in our country have taken leave of their senses I find it necessary to post a reminder as to why exactly Ground Zero in NYC is the last place on Earth that a Mosque should be built. As I have said before I initially started this blog as a place to vent against the zombies involved in the 911 “Truth” movement. It has clearly grown beyond that, but as a professional firefighter I will never forget the events of that day. For many in my generation it was the “where were you when Kennedy was shot?” moment.

For some like New York’s insanely arrogant, self-absorbed, egomaniac Mayor Michael Bloomberg, building a Mosque at Ground Zero is merely an expression of freedom of religion as envisioned by our Founding Fathers. That’s disgusting and degrading. Freedom of religion like EVERY OTHER right we have is subject to reasonable restrictions. You can’t yell “Fire” in a crowded theater. You can’t own  a machine gun (without proper licenses). You can’t drive your car 100 MPH down a residential street.

You can’t build a mosque on the site where 3,000 Americans were slaughtered by Islamic extremists. Except in New York City.

Philly has had an issue with the Mormons building a Temple near the Parkway. Our government can intervene against anyone it seems EXCEPT Muslims.

There are plenty of restrictions on our everyday rights and the liberals currently in charge of our government seem to add more every day. Yet when it comes to the sensibilities of Americans who were brutally murdered that September morning, there is NO RESPECT, no SENSITIVITY, NO COMPASSION, NO TOLERANCE for those left grieving or those who had their lives destroyed that day.

These words are usually hurled at those of us on the right by the morally superior left, yet they go right out the window when Muslim sensitivities are involved. We all must fall in line with the political correctness of sycophants like Bloomberg and  liberal elites like him. It is simply disturbing.

The sad irony is that the Mosque will probably be completed before the proposed “Freedom Tower”.

  1. Tyson Bam says:

Pork Plant Opens Next to Mosque Next to Ground Zero (great satire)

  2. Randal Graves says:

Unfortunately, NYC’s hands are tied; they have no legal grounds to deny the building permits. If they don’t allow it to be built, the people building the mosque sue and win.

That’s the sole reason they tried to get the existing warehouse labeled with landmark status.

With freedom of religion, you have to take the good with the bad.

  3. Ingineer66 says:

I have to go with Randal on this one. I think it is totally insensitive and in your face that they would build this mosque so close to Ground Zero. If they want one on the lower east side then it should be at least 10 blocks away. But as for legally stopping them, that whole first amendment thing gets in the way. The constitution protects bad ideas just as much as it protects popular ideas.

  4. Not true. NYC could condem that parcel with Imminant Domain and there would be no Mosque built. This isn’t about taking the good with the bad, it’s about political correctness run amok.

    • Randal Graves says:

But they (the city) would be sued and lose, costing the city millions in legal fees for a fight they wouldn’t win up to the Supreme Court. Look, I’m not saying I think it should be built there, just that at this point there’s no way to stop it.

      • Why would they lose? There is no Constitutional right to build anything, that is a local zoning issue. By delaying the construction it gives the city time to find an alternate use for the site.

  5. txlady706 says:

Freedom of granted to people who want to enslave you, is a false argument. The LOGIC has escaped everyone. This Religion is like no other major religion on earth. It’s core element is to CONQUER. All other major Religions on earth have LIFE (and betterment thereof) at their core philosophy.
ISLAM in it’s pure form will never be at peace. When there are no other Religions on earth, other than Islam, there won’t be peace. They will CHOOSE to exterminate each other, because one town will be deemed more pure than another. Who will decide who is more pure? This is intrinsic in Muslim culture. They are told to submit and to make people submit to Islam that they think aren’t doing it right. This Religion judges all and everyone. The penalty is death or extinction. Are you Muslim? What do you choose if you are not Muslim? Those are the choices.
I’m Jewish. Mayor Bloomberg is not. He’s EVIL. He is a false Jew. A Jew without logic or reason will walk toward death. That Jew is also dragging the rest of the world toward death. Jews have been the gate keepers. When the gatekeepers go, where will you be?
I apologize for the long rant – the video made me emotional.

    • Randal Graves says:

txlady – you can’t single out 1 religion because of your opinion of what they’re really about. People think Jews/Catholics/Baptists/etc. are evil too. Again, the 1st Amendment protects them; the same Amendment that is defended on this very website.

PC or not PC, it doesn’t matter; they’re protected by the Constitution.

      • Randall- your logic is really off sometimes. You try to see all things as equal, moral equivalency run amok. There is no comparison between Christianity, Judaism or ANY other world religion and Islam. Islam is completely incompatible with western culture. We see evidence of this EVERY day. By comparison western culture has it’s roots in Christianity and Judaism. OUR values, like any principal are subject to many different pressures. For example one of our core beliefs is the value of EVERY human life. We value this most highly and it’s one of the Ten Commandments “Thou shall not kill”. Yet we kill people all the time. Why is that? Because we make judgements that some people (Murderers) have forfeited that right. We also kill people when engaged in warfare, although we try harder than any other country to limit the extent of that killing. So it is no stretch that denying those who seek to do us harm and undermine the very principals that allow them into our country in the first place, and who ultimately will kill every last one of us and our children given the chance, the ability to do so is the absolutely correct thing to do.
The Constitution is not a suicide pact nor should we commit suicide to preserve our values. If we do those values die with us.
Clearly there are ways to stop this. The cost is not an issue because NYC spends money like a drunken sailor anyway. If NYC doesn’t want something built somewhere it can stop it just like Philly. At the very least they could tie this up in court for years until another way is found to stop it. Believe that.

  6. Randal Graves says:

Sorry, but my logic is not off in this case. Legally in the US, all religions are equal. The Constitution, that you defend so strongly when it pertains to guns, says that you cannot discriminate based on religion. It doesn’t matter if Muslims killed Americans. Catholics/Jews/Baptists kill Americans every day. You can’t pick and choose when you want to defend the Constitution.

Your last paragraph confuses me. You bitch and moan about Democratic-run cities pissing money away, yet you think it’s a good idea for NYC to waste millions for a fight they won’t and Constitutionally can’t win.

Listen, it’s not ‘cool for them to build it there, but the laws of the land allow them to do it.

  7. The Constitution DOESN’T say all religions are equal. It says

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;”

It doesn’t say you are free to build a Mosque WHEREVER YOU WANT. Nor a Church nor A Synagogue. You are reading things into the Bill of Rights that simply aren’t there. The local community has plenty of input on zoning and I’m sure they could make an excellent case for not building a Mosque in that part of town for a host of different reasons.

I am totally against government waste. But if the citizens of NYC think this is a case worth fighting (they do) then it’s their call.

If the City of Philadelphia can prosecute their loser of a case against the Boy Scouts to the tune of 1 million dollars, one you were OK with, why can’t NYC? Because it’s insensitive to Muslims?

  8. Bob G. says:

    Well said…and A-Men to that!

    Stay safe.

  9. Randal Graves says:

The city of Philadelphia lost that battle; so would NYC. I never said that “you are free to build a Mosque WHEREVER YOU WANT.” You just can’t deny someone because their Muslim. What’s so difficult about that. Take your emotions out of the equation and you’ll realize it.

You don’t think that they should build a mosque because of their religion. The Constitution defends against that type of discrimination. It’s plain and simple religious discrimination. Now, if NYC can find some zoning restriction to prevent construction, good for them I guess.

Let’s summarize your use of the Constitution over the past year or so:
Guns – you defend the Constitution because it favors your side of the argument.
All men are created equal – you ignore the Constitution because it doesn’t help your argument.
Religious freedom – – you ignore the Constitution because it doesn’t help your argument.

    Correct me if I’m wrong?

  10. Ingineer66 says:

If they really build this, then I say build a strip club on one side and bar that gives free beer to troops in uniform on the other and a synagogue across the street.
And I know it is not popular here, but I think the constitution is on the Muslims side this time.

  11. txlady706 says:

    Then you are lost.
    The Constitution:
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;”

Prohibiting the free exercise there of- To protect the ISLAM religion, is to allow for the SILENCING of ALL other RELIGIONS

By NOT protecting ALL other Religions, YOU are supporting ONLY ISLAM

    • Randal Graves says:

Protecting Islam is not silencing all other religions. Protecting the ability to freely worship ANY religion in this country is the Law of the Land.

  12. I don’t deny Muslims because of their religion. I would stop it because of their connection (ESPECIALLY THIS IMAM) to 911, the neighbors and citizens objections and the good of a community. Stripping is protected as free speech / expression yet you can’t build a strip joing next to a grade school. Am I missing something?

As for my positions I am consistant, it’s the liberals who play fast and loose with the intentions of our Founding Fathers.
For example- I accept the fact that we can’t own machine guns as a reasonable restriction on an inalienable right. I also adhear to the SUPREME COURTS decisions that the right to keep and bear arms applies to THE INDIVIDUAL CITIZEN as does freedom of speech, religion. Liberals think it is a right reserved to the militia only. That’s like saying freedom of the press doesn’t apply to a freelance reporter, just the “COLLECTIVE MEDIA”. They also want Philly to make it’s OWN gun laws (Yeah that doesn’t mean an outright ban) in spite of the States Supremacy in this area, yet they can’t allow Arizona to make immigration law because of the FG supremacy. Really? Nonsense. I am consistant.

I believe everyone has the right to worship freely as the Constitution says. That right like every other right comes with reasonable restrictions. You can’t have human sacrifice right? So the local community governs where you can and can’t build your Mosque. The City of Philadelphia KNEW their case against the Scouts was a loser long before they filed it. They were trying to intimidate the Scouts but the Scouts didn’t back down. The city clearly tried to violate their rights no matter what you think of gays. It would be like trying to force the NAACP to admit whites.

All men are created equal, so what? That doesn’t mean our country is a free for all. If thousands of years of accepted practice can be thrown out because a vocal minority decides it wants to change things why doesn’t the majority have the right to resist or even be offended? Many people have deep seated religious beliefs that make homosexuality unacceptable to them. To that end civil unions are proposed as a way to recognize the human rights of gay people without offending the sensibilities of straight, religious people. Where is the compassion and compromise the left always demands of the right in this instance?

It seems you are ready to defend Muslims at the drop of a hat when they are cleary being INTOLERANT of Christian sensibilities (Who wouldn’t be offended when 3,000 people were slaughtered) but can’t stop yourself from throwing Christians to the lions when it comes to gay rights.

    • Randal Graves says:

I’m not defending Muslims. I’m defending someone’s right to express/practice their religion in this country, whether it’s next to the World Trade Center or it’s in some small town.

And I have no regrets ‘throwing Christians to the lions” about gay rights. It’s wrong, ignorant and bigoted. The Catholic church discriminates against a group of people because of their sexual orientation, yet Jesus Christ teaches us treat everyone equally, and he actually aligned himself with the ‘undesirables’ of his time.

  13. No one is taking their right to worship from them. We are talking about the placement of a Muslim house of worship at the site where Muslim extremists slaughtered 3,000 of our countrymen. The City of New York and the 7 million people who live there are clearly within their rights to say they don’t want that. Happens all the time. You have confused the issue. There are over 100 Mosques in New York so your arguement doesn’t hold water. You are trying change the debate into something it is not. They are clearly different issues.

And as far as Christianity goes, your beloved Muslims who would build their Mosque at Ground Zero are even LESS tolerant of gays. Build away.

  14. Randal Graves says:

“The City of New York and the 7 million people who live there are clearly within their rights to say they don’t want that.”

And they spoke their mind; unfortunately for those against it, they lose; the law allows the mosque to be built.

  15. Wyatt Earp says:

Right or wrong, the voters in California spoke their mind – twice – on Prop 8. The pro-gay marriage folks lost, too . . . until a judge overturned the vote last week.

Personally, I think they should call this the “Victory Mosque,” because that’s what it is. It’s a big “frak you” to America. We won, you lost, and now we’re gloating a block away from Ground Zero. New York deserves this, because not enough of them spoke out about it. Had there been mass demonstrations that shut down the streets of Manhattan, the project may have never gotten off the ground. Instead, the majority of them said nothing – afraid to be called racists by the MSM – and this mosque is on the fact track. Serves New York right.

    Just my $0.02.

    • Randal Graves says:

It because most people don’t care ENOUGH to do anything about it. Did you see the last hearing they had regarding the “historical building” stuff. There were so few people there against the mosque.

If ‘everyone’ who was TRULY affected by 9/11 cared, where was every policeman, fireman, port authority worker, their families, the families of the deceased of 9/11, ‘true’ New Yorkers, etc when all of this was being decided? NOWHERE. There were so few people ‘protesting’ the latest decision, that it looked like not enough people really care enough

  16. Admiral- we have to agree to disagree on this one.
