We’re back from our vacation to Washington DC and I have tons of things to catch up on. There never seems to be enough time in a day to finish everything. The trip was really great despite the 100 degree plus temperatures we endured. The kids got to see our Nations Capitol and many awesome sights.
In about three days we hit the following: US Capitol, Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, Viet Nam Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Arlington Cemetery, Smithsonian museums Air and Space, Natural History, Portrait Gallery, American History and even Madame Tussuad’s Wax Museum. It was about all we could see in the amount of time we had. Even though it was hot and we were hoofing it on foot no one seemed to mind.
In this picture we engaged in a bit of political protest. It was one of the highlights of the trip. One of the reasons we picked Washington this year was for the educational value of the trip. Teaching the kids that our government works for us and that we have the right of free speech is important. I doubt a Chinese twelve-year-old could do this in Tienanmen Square and that is a powerful lesson in my book. I’ll be posting other pics as I get the time.
