The new $28 billion state budget was part of a deal that would boost state borrowing by as much as $600 million to pay for construction projects such as new public buildings to be named after U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter and late U.S. Rep. John Murtha. About half of the projects it will finance are being hand-picked by Gov. Ed Rendell. Legislators expect to assemble a second list in the coming months that also must be authorized by legislation before they can receive money. Rendell is earmarking $10 million for the Arlen Specter Library at Philadelphia University and another $10 million for the John P. Murtha Center for Public Policy at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. LINK
That’s right folks, this bankrupcy brought to you courtesy of the Democrat party. As our city and state struggle with the delivery of basic services, the services our taxes are supposed to fund, the politicians in Harrisburg, most notably the Democrats, still manage to find the money to waste on their pet projects.
Here in Philadelphia the emergency services are struggling with crushing workloads, especially EMS. The fire department is stretched to the breaking point on a daily basis. Instead of a bullshit library for the creep Arlen Specter we could use about thirty more ambulances in Philly. How’s that for ignorance based on arrogance? Ed Rendell has been a zero as a politician his entire career. He will not be missed in this state by the average taxpayer.
As a conservative and a Republican I had enormous disagreement with my party over their undisciplined spending during the Bush years. Oh how I long for those heady days of Republican largesse. These people make that Congress look down right stingy. As my previous post pointed out another example of unchecked waste the hits keep coming. These politicians are lying to us constantly and setting us up for more tax increases to fund their unrestricted giveaway programs.
There is plenty of money coming in to our government. It’s a simple matter of how it’s being spent. They can find money for “Low income” computer centers while closing libraries. Does everyone realize that libraries already have computers to serve the “poor”? The administration of American government is approaching the threshold of criminal malfeasance. I for one have had enough.
