If some reports are to be believed, the Democrats will pass the Senate health care bill with some reconciliation changes later today. Thus, it is worthwhile to take a comprehensive look at the freedoms we will lose.

Of course, the bill is supposed to provide us with security. But it will result in skyrocketing insurance costs and physicians leaving the field in droves, making it harder to afford and find medical care. We may be about to live Benjamin Franklin’s adage, “People willing to trade their freedom for temporary security deserve neither and will lose both.”

The sections described below are taken from HR 3590 as agreed to by the Senate and from the reconciliation bill as displayed by the Rules Committee. LINK

The top 20 ways Obamacare is going to ruin our economy and take our freedoms are spelled out in this article. Instead of posting them all at once, I’ll do it one at a time so those who think this abomination is good for America can try their feeble hands at defending it (that is if they can even understand it). I’m also posting them one at a time so you don’t get lulled into blissful ignorance. Most people won’t sit down and take the time to read twenty ways they are losing their freedom (believe that?) never mind a 1500 page bill. Here is the first:

1. You are young and don’t want health insurance? You are starting up a small business and need to minimize expenses, and one way to do that is to forgo health insurance? Tough. You have to pay $750 annually for the “privilege.” (Section 1501)

We all know how hard it is to start a small business. Most small businesses fail in the first five years despite the Herculean effort put out by their owners. The primary cause is usually cash flow. Very often the owners leverage everything they own to pursue their dream. Second mortgages, selling the car, taking out loans, maxing out credit cards, borrowing from family members you name it. For all that effort they get long days and nights behind the counter working to make the business succeed.

The American entrepreneur doesn’t ask much. They just want the government and all its bureaucrats, red tape, high fees, TAXES and insane mandates to get out-of-the-way so they can succeed. Now Obamacare is going to throw yet ANOTHER roadblock in their way. Remember BIG businesses start out as SMALL businesses. As they grow the HIRE more people. This EXPANDS the economy and provides REVENUE to the government. It’s no wonder this is lost on White House. These amateurs have never CREATED a job, met a payroll or turned a profit. They all need to go.

  1. Dustoff says:

The dem’s have now become the party of death.
President Obama signed the Senate health care bill into law Tuesday. He did not sign the executive order on abortion negotiated with Michigan Democratic Congressman Bart Stupak in an 11th-hour arrangement that may well have saved the entire health care reform effort.

  2. Randal Graves says:

I just read Section 1501 and, surprisingly, I couldn’t find the paragraph that you referenced. You can read Section 1501 yourself; it’s on pages 320 through 340 of H.R. 3590.

I have a feeling that this will be the case with the remaining 19 paragraphs.

    • Subtitle F: Shared Responsibility for Health Care – Part I: Individual Responsibility – (Sec. 1501, as modified by section 10106) Requires individuals to maintain minimal essential health care coverage beginning in 2014. Imposes a penalty for failure to maintain such coverage beginning in 2014, except for certain low-income individuals who cannot afford coverage, members of Indian tribes, and individuals who suffer hardship. Exempts from the coverage requirement individuals who object to health care coverage on religious grounds, individuals not lawfully present in the United States, and individuals who are incarcerated.

Maybe you should learn to read. I’m sure Obama has a program for that too. Besides I’ quite sure Investor’s Business Daily has no ax to grind with Obama. Their research is good enough for me.

      • Randal Graves says:

I did read it. The only part of your original paragraph that is in 1501 is the fact that there is a $750 penalty.

Show me where it says “You are young and don’t want health insurance? You are starting up a small business and need to minimize expenses, and one way to do that is to forgo health insurance? Tough.”

Oh, that’s right, that’s just your slant on the subject. Then you should state that in you r blog post; instead, you typed “The sections described below are taken from HR 3590…”

There not “taken” from 3590; some moron put his own spin on 3590.

  3. Wyatt Earp says:

Hey, wanna take your kids to the White House Easter Egg Roll? You can, but I can’t. No Catholic school kids are allowed.

    • Randal Graves says:

It’s because the Easter Bunny is a false god and filthy, abortion hating Catholics aren’t allowed to worship them.

  4. Dude- that is not my spin. That is what the article states, not me. They are illustrating a scenario that is dervied from the bill. I notice as usual you can’t attack the substance of the article (which I referenced with the link as I always do) so you try to distort the message.
You are wrong again, I didn’t ref.3590. My analysis (in red as always) is correct. This requirement is a burden on small business owners and most likely unconstitutional. Time and the courts will tell. At the very least it is a gross abuse of power. But I guess you are ok with that.

The facts are clear- if you are not in a protected class (poor) you will have to buy insurance or pay a fine. You have a bigger problem with me for pointing it out (based on the article) than you have with Congress and Obama for shoving this down our throats.

  5. Randal Graves says:

“That is what the article states, not me.” But you agree 100% with the article.

I agree that demanding people buy insurance is wrong, but if they don’t buy it, then they should also agree to NEVER use our healthcare system. If they get hurt, sick, etc., then every hospital and doctor should be able to refuse them.

My problem is that you only find the bad in this bill. Nothing mentioned about the fact that insurance companies will no longer be able to deny coverage to a little boy with a debilitating lung condition just because it was pre-existing.

What about people with cancer? I guess once they’ve exhausted their lifetime benefit, just let them rot or file for bankruptcy since they can’t pay their medical bills. Over 40% of the bankruptcy filings are due to medical bills.

    • You never ASKED my opinion on any of that and I also never gave it. That’s my perogative, my blog. The fact is that there are many things wrong with our health care system, I know I see them every time I get in my fire truck and respond to a “difficulty breathing” call at 3am. But like many conservatives and a large majority of the American tax paying public I reject this abortion of a bill because it is little more than the cornerstone of the Obama regime’s effort to nationalize 1/6th of our economy with more to follow. This is no way to “fix” our problems in health care. It is a socialist takeover of our medical system which YOU said would “NEVER HAPPEN”.

  6. Wyatt Earp says:

Oops, that bunk about “no existing preconditions” for children? Eh, not so much. Maybe if they didn’t rush through the bill so fast, they would have, oh I don’t know, actually read it.

  7. Ingineer66 says:

That is part of the problem Captain only half of Americans are tax paying Americans. The other half are looking at all these programs as “Free”. So the more the better.

The power grab by these folks is just amazing and most of the press is just going along with it. Healthcare, Wall Street, Banks, Insurance companies, GM, Chrysler, Student Loans. You name it, Obama wants to have the Federal Government control it and stifle the private sector that has made this country so great for the last 200 years.

  8. Ingineer66 says:

Interesting Wyatt, I guess like the article says “The Obama Administration is going to interpret the law to say that coverage cannot be denied for pre-existing conditions.” Sort of like the abortion thing. It does not matter what the law actually says to the Obama administration, it is what they wish it said or what they think it should say.

This is a scary group of people. If you thought that the White House interpreting the interrogation rules to say that Water Boarding is not torture was a miss-carriage of justice then just think what these folks could interpret rules to say.

  9. Old NFO says:

IT’s gonna create 16,000 more ENFORCEMENT jobs at the IRS… sigh…

  10. Randall I guess you would call this free market capitalism run amok then. Whatever.
You have been bulshitted into thinking you and your family’s healthcare just got better and you don’t even know it. Thats pretty sad.
Why do you think all those raving leftists who were DEMANDING a public option suddenly clamed up and fell into line? Because the health insurance will be de facto administering a public, government run health care system. The feds will now tell the insurance companies what benefits they can offer, how much they can charge and onand on just like the financial markets. It’s total government control. You don’t seem to care that your freedom has just vaporized. And you liberals were worried about Bush? Obama just made Bush look like a piker.

  11. Dustoff says:

Obama’s health care will become the next DMV.

  12. Spock says:

This kinda says it all, doesn’t it?

“Castro applauds US health-care reform bill”

  13. rockwell says:

Excellent article. Looking forward to seeing you write much more about this subject.
