I went to check out the Clint Eastwood movie “Flags of Our Fathers” last night with Wyatt. Since neither of our wives would dare go to see a war movie we have to activate the buddy system. Whenever there is a cool movie out that we have no chance of dragging the brides to see we team up and make a night of it. We always leave a seat between each other for manliness so everyone can relax. This is actually a good policy because whenever another dopey Jennifer Anniston movie comes out the women can go off and have a good time without torturing us.
This movie KICKS ASS. It’s the story behind the flag raising on Iwo Jima and the lives of the men involved. I give it FOUR STARS out of four. It is savage, gory, heartbreaking and true. It is ultimately a sad story. Clint Eastwood has nailed the emotional end of it as well as the battle scenes. I predict strong Oscar potential. The younger generation of today has not been taught the lessons that our grandfathers paid for in blood. This movie should be required material for every high school class. Today you say Iwo Jima in any high school and you may only get a handful of kids who have any clue as to what your talking about, but they can sure as hell tell you anything you want to know about an IPOD or PlayStation. They don’t realize without the sacrifices made on Iwo Jima and other places like it there would be no IPOD’S or Play Stations. So today on the birthday of the U.S. Marine Corp’s, I salute all our servicemen past, present & future. Happy Birthday Marine’s, Semper Fi!

We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France. We shall fight on the seas and oceans. We shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air. We shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; WE SHALL NEVER SURRENDER! -Winston Churchill

Courage isn't the absence of fear. Rather it's the judgment that something else is more important than fear.
