COWARD IN CHIEF

May 9, 2012

President Obama doesn’t even have the courage to “come out” and endorse gay marriage even though he clearly supports it. The guy simply doesn’t have the courage of his convictions. The fact is that he talks out of both sides of his mouth on this (and most other sensitive issues). Here he sounds like he supports marriage as defined as the union between a man and a woman just like THE PEOPLE OF NORTH CAROLINA.

Yet as the controversy builds we are fed a line that his position is “evolving”. Really? He’s a grown man. What is it about this issue that needs to evolve for him? For the record, just because you support the traditional definition of marriage (between a man and a woman) doesn’t mean you have any animosity towards those in the gay community. Straight couples have every right to stand up for their beliefs like everyone else.

MISS CALIFORNIA: PROFILE IN COURAGE

Miss North Carolina Kristen Dalton was crowned Miss USA on Sunday, but the big story to come out of the normally politics-free telecast was Miss California’s comments regarding gay marriage.

When asked by judge Perez Hilton, an openly gay gossip blogger, whether she believed in gay marriage, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, said “We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”

Keith Lewis, who runs the Miss California competition, tells FOXNews.com that he was “saddened” by Prejean’s statement.

Personally Perez Hilton makes my skin crawl. That being said never miss an opportunity to blog about a fabulous babe. That would  Miss California Carrie Prejean. She has probably cost herself a few dollars and the title by opting not to give the politically correct, popular pro-gay answer. I for the life of me can’t understand why this Keith Lewis guy is “saddened” by Carrie Prejean’s comments. What is sad about anything she said? She qualifies her statement saying she wished no offense and that she was raised in a family where marriage should be between a man and a woman. I would say that the vast majority of Americans believe the exact same thing!

I think it’s pretty telling that when Sean Penn gets up at an award ceremony and rants his approval of gay marriage he gets applauded in the main stream media. When Miss USA proclaims the exact opposite platform her comments are deemed “Saddening”.

“As co-director of the Miss California USA, I am personally saddened and hurt that Miss California believes marriage rights belong only to a man and a woman,” said Lewis in a statement. “I believe all religions should be able to ordain what unions they see fit. I do not believe our government should be able to discriminate against anyone and religious beliefs have no politics in the Miss California family.” LINK

So political speech is OK for Hollywood actors at the Oscars but not for contestants at Miss USA? I bet if her opinion was pro-gay marriage we wouldn’t have heard a peep. This guy is so mad his statement is incoherent! Ha! That’s Ok. Miss California has shown us that she has the courage of her convictions and isn’t afraid to profess them no matter what the cost. Good for her. They are exactly the qualities Miss USA SHOULD have! This is yet another example of how in present day media if you hold or express an opinion that is conservative in any way or have faith based values or opinions you are ridiculed and excoriated.  Miss Prejean didn’t advocate harm to anyone. She only expressed an her own opinion and look what happened.

I wish miss Prejean the best in the future and feel that her courage will carry her far in life.

Now if we can only get a few more members of Congress to show that much courage.
