If you never understood heavy metal as a musical art form, maybe this video from Iron Maiden will shed some light on it for you. Iron Maiden is unquestionably the greatest pure metal band ever. You can see direct lines in their shows that go all the way back to Alice Cooper or KISS.
Lead singer Bruce Dickenson’s performance shows that he understands metal as an art form. He doesn’t sing their songs, he performs them. His voice is strong over the intense range and blistering pace of the lightning like guitar playing. Metal is meant to be over the top, almost cartoonish – like a comic book. That doesn’t take away from the musical quality. It’s intense. Maiden once again proves they get better with age.
UP THE IRONS!

Bruce must burn 10,000 calories every night he performs. He runs around the stage all night like a maniac – you gotta love that kind of energy.

Sorry, Den. Can’t handle that. WAY too instense for me and leaves me with a headache. I was never an Iron Maiden fan.
Not sure if anyone considers Godsmack, Disturbed or old school Metallica metal, but tht stuff I love. Rock & roll that soothes the soul. But the Foo – my absolute fave. Dave Grohl is da bomb!
