TERRORISTS: N.I.M.B.Y.

DENVER | Nuclear waste has nothing on terrorist detainees from Guantanamo Bay.

With President Obama’s vow to shutter the military prison in Cuba, the race to block the detainees from a facility near you has erupted, and Republicans are quickly trying to score political points by seizing on the new administration’s developing plan for the 245 terrorism suspects.

Colorado Republicans attacked the state’s Democratic governor, Bill Ritter Jr., for statements in support of bringing terrorist detainees to a “supermax” (facility in Florence, Colo., which, by the way, already is home to Zacarias Moussaoui, convicted as a Sept. 11 attack conspirator; Ramzi Yousef, who plotted the 1993 World Trade Center bombing; and Richard Reid, who attempted to use a shoe bomb to blow up a jetliner over the Atlantic Ocean.

But despite the rogue’s list of inmates there, Republican lawmakers pounced on Gov. Bill Ritter Jr.

“It’s clearly irresponsible of Governor Ritter to roll out the welcome mat for enemy combatants to come to Colorado,” said Republican state Rep. Cory Gardner, a leader of the petition drive. “His decision, without consulting the state legislature or local governments, to import terrorists into the state, is obviously a problem.” LINK

In a case of the Bizzaro World meets the land of ONAT, Republican lawmakers are understandably cool to the Obama administrations plan to relocate terrorists from Guantanamo Bay to state side prisons in their districts. Duh. Now I know that the messiah is all knowing, all seeing yadda, yadda, yadda. But come on. Does he really think that most Americans want terrorists from Guantanamo Bay in their local prisons when there is no real reason for them to be closing GITMO in the first place?

In any event shouldn’t the messiah have all this figured out and have a plan in place BEFORE he decided to go off half cocked and close GITMO? Maybe someone with a little more political experience would have made some deals with the LIKELY opposition FIRST. I have to tell you I can see no reason anyone would want these people located anywhere near their homes or towns. There was a reason they were put in GITMO. Bringing them to American soil is too risky.

With a large militant Muslim population in many prison systems what prison warden wants the aggravation of dealing with these animals? Prisoners escape from jails and lockups all the time. What would be the fallout if one of these terrorists got some inside help and escaped? Just imagine if some of them escaped and did something horrible. There would be anarchy.

But I’m sure the FEDS have this all figured out. I’m sure they will end up somewhere like Pelican Bay, in a 23 hour a day lockup. And that makes me laugh to think of their liberal lawyers first press conference begging for them to be sent back to GITMO!

I have a suggestion for President Obama. It’s brilliant in it’s simplicity and ability to kill two birds with one stone: Take some of that stimulus money and rebuild Alcatraz. On one hand you can provide work for non-white, non male construction workers, and at the same time you provide a secure place to house this scum where no one can claim it’s in their backyard. See? I’m sure Sen. Boxer and Feinstein and Speaker Pelosi won’t get a case of NIMBY. After all whats to fear?
