There is an arrest in the case of a hit and run that killed a Delaware City paramedic. LINK

But Delaware State Police aren’t stopping there. They’ve got another suspect to catch.

Michelle Smith was struck by a hit-and run driver on Saturday night. Smith was helping a critically injured motorcyclist when a BMW struck a police car, then hit Smith and the motorcyclist.

The driver of the striking vehicle jumped into another car and sped away. On Monday night that driver, 28-year-old Joseph Tay was arrested in Bear. LINK

It’s been a pretty bad week for East Coast public safety workers. In New York, juries let cop killers walk. In Philly, felons shoot it out with police just about every day. Highlighting just how dangerous it is out there this Paramedic from Delaware was run down by a career criminal, who then jumps into another car and makes his escape. The police are looking for the driver of the other car. I have been following the news reports and was saddened to see she had died as a result of her injuries.

I get frustrated because the same old themes all too often run through these tragic stories. Career criminals, drug and alcohol crazed, let out of jail only to commit even more horrific crimes against innocent citizens. All the while politicians slash our manpower, budgets and squander the taxpayers money needlessly. Sooner or later Americans are going to reach their breaking point. Something is going to have to give.

This woman was a VOLUNTEER Paramedic. She was out there on that highway HELPING someone who was badly hurt and this piece of human filth just murdered her and ran like a coward. She is survived by a twelve-year old daughter. Nice. This poor girl’s world has now been destroyed and she may never recover. Christmas for sure will never be the same for her. Words are really inadequate for this situation.

Here’s the link to the whole disgusting story from Domelights.

If you would like to help out her young daughter here is where contributions can be sent. Since she was a volunteer I’m not sure how much coverage is provided:
