GEORGIA POLICE CHIEF POLITICALLY CORRECT

DOUGLASVILLE, Georgia (CNN) — Police in this community announced Monday they will implement “sensitivity and cultural diversity training” after a Muslim woman who refused to remove her head scarf at a courthouse ended up in jail.

“We never want this to happen again. It’s not our intent to embarrass anybody,” Police Chief Joe Whisenant said at a news conference.

The judge who had the woman incarcerated briefly for contempt of court will also take part in the special training, Whisenant said.

The incident took place Tuesday when Lisa Valentine, who also goes by her Muslim name Miedah, accompanied her nephew to a hearing at Douglasville’s small municipal courthouse. The scarf, called a hijab, did not cover her face, only her hair. It is part of her religious belief that her hair should be covered in public, as a form of modesty. LINK

I can’t tell you how nauseated this story makes me. I wanted to comment on it the other day when I first saw it, but it got away. Now the plot thickens: Sensitivity training has been ordered and I’m outraged!

This country was founded on the belief that all men should be free of religious persecution. I believe that is a mandatory part of our civilization. Now I believe that since our society – unlike most monotheistic states around the globe – accepts so many diverse beliefs that we need to keep our religious practices private, or at least not allow them to interfere with the business of state and government. Our religions are our own business.

We are all free to go to our churches  (Or wherever) and congregate to worship. We are all free to preach our beliefs on the sidewalk. We can teach our beliefs to our children in our schools and homes. We can celebrate our holidays loudly and proudly.

But there has to be limits. We do NOT have the right to believe that OUR religion supersedes the laws of this land. In other words, if you are asked to remove your head wear in accordance with the laws of our land, in order to transact business in a court of law or any other government office then your are bound to do so. OTHERWISE, MOVE TO IRAQ!

Likewise when you get your picture taken for your driver’s license. Likewise if you become a cop. Get my drift? As long as a law or rule doesn’t interfere or prevent  worship done on your time, in your church, in your school or home, the complaints are just horsesh*t. Jesus said “Give unto Caesar.” I believe in the separation of Church and State for the most part. If you are going to have religious diversity and freedom, then you need to keep the Government neutral. As long as EVERYONE removes their head wear it’s not a problem.

I have a MUCH bigger problem with the Police Chief. He’s an ass. I wonder if he would be doing this if Christians were offended? This women was held in contempt after she got mouthy when told to remove her head scarf. Now everyone is insensitive to her? Total crap. I can’t believe the Judge is taking orders from this guy either. I would have told him where to go and if he came into my courtroom with a hat on I lock him up, too. It’s MY courtroom pal, not yours!

There is a reason for not wearing outrageous, religious or other overtly identifiable clothing or items in court. It’s to remove perceptions of favoritism. Imagine if someone sat there and recorded all the cases for a day and concluded that everyone wearing a head wrap was convicted? They then could declare that only Muslims were being convicted and the court was BIAS against Muslims. Isn’t this why we clean up the most heinous murders to look like school boys when the sit in front of juries? I think so.

It’s amazing that the Governor of Washington State can get away with offending Christians and mocking Christmas. Where are the calls for her sensitivity brainwash training? Oh yeah I forgot. Christians don’t count.

This Police Chief has no guts. He should be ashamed of his conduct and apologize to his staff.

REAL AMERICAN DIRTBAG

brancato

NEW YORK – Lillo Brancato, who played a bumbling aspiring mobster on “The Sopranos,” was cleared Monday of second-degree murder in the shooting death of an off-duty policeman during a drunken, late-night search for drugs.

The jury convicted Brancato of a lesser charge of attempted burglary. He faces a minimum of three years in prison on that count, but the former actor could get credit for time served because he has been behind bars about that long.

Brancato showed no reaction as the verdict was read – his face impassive, his fingers pressed together. His mother, seated a couple rows back in the gallery, began sobbing.

Prosecutors say Brancato and accomplice Steven Armento broke into a basement apartment to steal prescription drugs after a night of drinking at a strip club. Officer Daniel Enchautegui, who lived next door, came out to investigate.

Armento blasted the 28-year-old officer with his .357 Magnum, hitting him in the heart. The dying officer fired back, wounding both men. Armento was convicted earlier this year of first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison without parole. LINK

I know it’s Christmas, but I don’t pick the timing of these things. Lilo Brancato used to be a pretty good actor. Not great, but he had a pretty good career. Then he got hooked on drugs and threw his life away. It ended badly one night when he was involved in the murder of an off duty police officer with one of his drug buddies. Rich, famous people on the down and out usually have “Friends” like this. You know degenerate, commoner types with the knowledge they need to score drugs, money, sex, guns on the cheap.

Lilo was with this “Friend” one night when they were in the process of breaking into someone’s apartment. When confronted by the off duty officer who heard the commotion the “Friend” shot the cop in cold blood. Miraculously, the police officer was able to shoot both suspects – including Brancato – before he died. It sounds identical to a Police Murder that happened here in Philly some twenty five years ago. That’s what you get, Lilo, when you have friends like that.

But the most heartbreaking part of this story after the Officer’s death is that Brancato was found innocent of murder. That is simply disgusting. I don’t know what is going on in New York but this is the second time in a week that a jury has let cop killers (Brancato is just as guilty as the shooter) walk.

The ex-con, murderer of NYPD Officer Rusell Timoshenko was also acquitted earlier this week although he was convicted of weapons offenses in the case. LINK

EXCUSE ME? This is another outrage and everyone of us who reads this ought to think good and hard about the service Police Officers provide us every day of the year. I say this because it does take a special kind of person to be a cop. You have to put up with enormous grief that you could never be paid for.Your personal life DOES take many hits and the stress is legendary. Not to mention the legions of Monday morning quarterbacks who come out of the woodwork looking to capitalize or second guess your every move.

A side note:  CaptainAmerica was a police officer candidate a few times, even making it to the Pennsylvania State Police at one point only to FINALLY realize I didn’t have the “Disposition” for police work. I’d have killed twelve people on my way to work the FIRST day. That probably wouldn’t have been good for my career.

Additionally, a local Abington Township Police Officer was shot and wounded today. His assailant was hit by return fire from the Police. Luckily the Police Officer will live. The scumbag will also. Wyatt has the details here: LINK

So, at this time of the year remember that there are citizens out there who live under the protection that the police provide our society. We should all be outraged by these two acquittals. We all count on the police when we are in trouble. Let’s not desert them when they need our help.

A DILEMMA

AR-10 – MY NEXT NEW BEST FRIEND?

For a while now I’ve been thinking about my AR-15. Many reports coming in from the front lines have confirmed what many have thought for years: the .223 round just isn’t powerful enough. I’m not saying that the Ar-15 / M-16  isn’t a fine weapon, just that the 223 round isn’t big enough for a battle rifle. I’ve been doing a lot of reading on the subject, ballistics and such. It’s really enough to make your head spin, because there are so many different aspects of shooting and so many variables that go into it.

Add to this the M-4 carbine that the Army and Marines are using is at the center of a reliability controversy. LINK So I have been thinking about selling the AR-15 and replacing it with an AR-10. I like the M-16 design overall and would like to stick with it. The AR-10 fires the much larger .308 caliber round. So this gives me a lot of what I am after. A good, solid design and a larger, harder hitting round. Sounds like a simple decision, right? Wrong.

I still like the .223 but just not for distance. So I am thinking about a .223 carbine as well. Say a Bushmaster AR-15.  OR I could just buy a shorter barrel .223 upper and that would solve the carbine issue. Then just buy the AR-10 outright. Case closed. But I am not entirely convinced that the .223 is the way to go. I really like the H&K 416 but I’m not sure they are making it for the civilian market yet. PLUS, the ARMY isn’t convinced they are staying with the .223, either. They are reportedly looking into the 6.8 round as a replacement.

Add to this I really like the M-14 and have been looking at Springfield’s SOCOM M-14 a lot. (I don’t think that will be it, though.) The Army brought as many as they could find out of mothballs for Iraq & Afghanistan. As usual, dollars and cents will be the eventual deciding factor, but hey, I still think shooting is cheaper than golf. And a lot more fun.

Like I said, you could go nuts trying to figure it out. I’m open for advice / suggestions on this one.
